Gridiron Reaction Time: Jerry Rice & Ben Roethlisberger

If you saw last week's motivational speech, then you pretty much got the picture that in football timing is everything. Any sports fan knows that if a wide receiver is too slow then he completely misses the ball, and if a quarterback release the ball to fast then he could be leading his receiver into an open field hit. Timing is everything and like the speech says "could be the difference between winning and losing." In this first clip, check out Ben Roethlisberger and the guys at Sports Science determining how much time it takes for him to release the ball, and compare that with the time it takes for a defender to reach the quarterback:
