Venus Williams' Beach Workout

Venus Williams

Since Wimbledon is well underway and it seems like events in the women's draw isn't exactly drawing chalk, I think its a good time we look at someone still in the field who has a habit of constantly winning on grass, Venus Williams. Venus and her sister, Serena, of course have been literally training since they were in their early teens in Compton. So now that she's won a number of titles, what does Venus do to keep in shape? She heads to the beach of course, doing the following leg strength exercises:

QUADRANT HOP

"Mark a spot in the sand and stand there with your feet shoulderwidth apart. After a deep knee bend, hop forward as far as you can and then backward to the original spot. Repeat that movement to your left, behind you, and to your right, getting as much push into your hops as possible. Do as many as you can in 30 seconds, then take off for a 50-yard sprint. Try to gradually increase the number of hops you do in 30 seconds, and then extend your time until you can hop for 60 seconds."
