Tony Gwynn can be considered the greatest pure hitter in the steroid generation. I say steroids, because it seems as though he didn't take any and was constantly compared against home run hitters who got all of the publicity and TV time. Gwynn's size may be a misrepresentation of his athleticism but the guy could hit at one of the highest batting percentages in history, and also field at the gold glove level.
